Catena AltaThe "Alta" ("high") part of the Catena vineyards tends to produce wines with a more pronounced taste. It appears that the vines struggle more at higher altitudes and produce a more interesting taste than the ones grown at lower altitudes. The Cabernet Franc is a great example of this rule. The 2005 bottle we opened had an intense fruity taste not usually expected in a Cabernet.
CatenaPart of the Catena-Zapata vineyards in the Mendoza region, the Catena wines are unusually smooth for a Malbec wine. However, they tend to leave your tongue stained bright purple! I had a 2006 Malbec, which apparently was a fine vintage and came out with an almost chocolaty taste. |
